|La Pentax 17 è una fotocamera a pellicola 35 mm a metà fotogramma. Questa snella point-and-shoot è il primo lancio dell'iniziativa Film Project di Ricoh Imaging/Pentax ed è stata progettata utilizzando tutta la sapienza proveniente dal patrimonio di fotocamere a pellicola del passato di Pentax. La Pentax 17 è una fotocamera in formato half-frame con un'area di registrazione di 17 x 24 mm (la metà del formato full frame 34 x 24mm). Questo formato più piccolo e particolare presenta alcuni vantaggi aggiuntivi: poiché i fotogrammi occupano circa la metà dello spazio sul rullino, si ottiene un numero doppio di esposizioni per rullino rispetto alle fotocamere a pieno formato.
