The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 represents the further evolution of the highly acclaimed first-generation model and incorporates numerous improvements. Leading the list of improvements in the new G2 lens is the incorporation of TAMRON's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism. The lens retains the handling characteristics of the most compact and lightweight lens in its class, while also enabling shooting with greater stability. The optical design has been redesigned compared to that of the first-generation 70-180mm F2.8 and achieves uncompromising image quality throughout the entire zoom range. TAMRON has also reduced the minimum object distance (MOD) at the wide-angle end to 0.3 meters from the 0.85 meters of the first-generation lens, allowing users to benefit from the unique photographic expression possibilities unique to this lens. Additionally, the new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens incorporates TAMRON's renowned VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focusing mechanism, enabling high-speed, high-precision autofocus (AF) for excellent performance in both stills and video. The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens is also compatible with TAMRON's dedicated Lens Utility™ and TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile™ applications, developed in-house. The software can be used to customize functions to suit various shooting styles. The lens's new design makes it easier to use and offers improved scratch resistance.
