Canon RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM

Canon RF 14mm f/1.4 L VCM is a professional ultra-wide-angle prime lens for Canon EOS R mirrorless cameras with RF mount, designed for astrophotography, landscapes, architecture, interiors, and video production. The 14 mm focal length provides a 114° diagonal angle of view on full-frame cameras, while on APS-C bodies it corresponds to approximately 22.4 mm equivalent. The f/1.4 maximum aperture allows the use of faster shutter speeds and lower ISO settings in low-light conditions, making it particularly suitable for night photography and astrophotography. The optical design consists of 18 elements in 13 groups and includes one fluorite element, one UD element, one BR optical element, and three aspherical elements; Super Spectra, SWC, and ASC coatings help control flare, ghosting, and aberrations, while the fluorine coating on the front element makes cleaning easier. Canon U.S.A. Autofocus is driven by two VCM motors designed to move the optical groups quickly and quietly while providing smooth focus transitions during video recording. Focus breathing is minimized, while the minimum focusing distance is 24 cm with a maximum magnification of 0.11x. The diaphragm uses 11 blades and closes down to f/16. The lens includes a control ring, manual focus ring, iris ring, lens function button, and AF/MF switch; the iris ring can be used smoothly for video, with some limitations on EOS R cameras released before May 2024. Optical image stabilization is not included. Canon U.S.A. The strongly convex front element does not accept conventional screw-in filters; instead, the lens features a rear holder for custom-cut gel or polyester filters. The hood is permanently integrated, the L-series construction is resistant to dust and weather, and the lens weighs approximately 578 g with dimensions of about 76.5 × 112 mm. Canon RF 14mm f/1.4 L VCM is suitable for photographers and videographers looking for a fast ultra-wide-angle lens with advanced optical correction, modern autofocus, and hybrid photo/video controls while maintaining relatively compact dimensions for a full-frame 14 mm f/1.4 lens.
