Hasselblad 500 C/M

Hasselblad 500 C/M is a fully mechanical medium-format single-lens reflex camera from the Hasselblad V System, introduced in 1970 as an evolution of the 500C. It uses 120 or 220 film through interchangeable film magazines and produces 6 × 6 cm negatives, maintaining a modular design that allows lenses, film backs, viewfinders, and focusing screens to be exchanged. The C/M designation specifically refers to the introduction of an interchangeable focusing screen, one of the main differences compared with the earlier 500C. The camera body does not contain its own shutter; instead, it uses leaf shutters built into compatible Hasselblad lenses, allowing flash synchronization at all available shutter speeds, generally up to 1/500 s with C and CF series lenses. Focusing is entirely manual and performed through the reflex viewing system, typically using a folding waist-level finder, which can be replaced by prism or metered viewfinders. Film advance and shutter cocking are performed simultaneously through the side winding crank. The die-cast aluminum construction, square format, and modular system make the Hasselblad 500 C/M suitable for portraiture, still life, fashion, landscape, and studio photography, with compatibility across a wide range of Zeiss V-System lenses, interchangeable backs, and dedicated Hasselblad accessories.
