The lens consists of 12 lenses in 9 groups, with 2 aspherical elements and 3 elements to limit dispersion. The patented optical design successfully limits distortion and chromatic aberrations, providing superb performance even at the edges of the image.
Photographers can also take advantage of the minimum focusing distance of only 15cm and the f/2 aperture to create macro shots with ambience and beautiful bokeh. The new 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D is designed with a special diaphragm which, via a selector switch, allows working both with the traditional clicked aperture selection, but also, if desired, with the clicked aperture selector. This new feature is very useful for videographers.
