The camera is the only monochrome digital SLR camera currently on the market. It captures high-resolution, nuanced monochrome images, allowing users who like to use all their senses when taking photographs and apply their imagination to express a colourful world view in simple, black-and-white images. To optimise monochrome image quality, the camera incorporates a monochrome CMOS image sensor in APS-C format without an AA (anti-aliasing) filter with approximately 25.73 effective megapixels. Typical colour image sensors are designed to receive light passing through red (R), green (G) and blue (B) filters, so each pixel detects only one component of colour data. To compose a monochrome image, colour sensors must convert colour data into monochrome data by interpolating the collected colour data. The new monochrome image sensor, however, is able to faithfully reflect the brightness data obtained from each pixel in the image - without the interpolation process - to produce a highly accurate monochrome expression in high-resolution, nuanced images.
