Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG II Art (Sony E)

Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG II Art, model A025, is a fast wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras and available for Sony E and L-Mount. It represents the second generation of Sigma’s 35mm f/1.2 and retains the f/1.2 maximum aperture while significantly reducing size and weight compared with the previous 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art. The 35 mm focal length is suitable for reportage, street photography, environmental portraiture, travel, events, and video production, while the wide aperture allows very shallow depth of field and shooting in low-light conditions. The optical construction consists of 17 elements in 13 groups, including one SLD element and four aspherical elements, designed to control chromatic aberrations, sagittal coma flare, ghosting, and loss of sharpness even at maximum aperture. The autofocus system uses a Dual HLA configuration with two linear motors, intended to provide fast, accurate, and quiet focusing, while focus breathing has been minimized to improve performance during video recording. The minimum focusing distance is 28 cm, the maximum magnification ratio is 1:5.3, the diaphragm uses 11 rounded blades, and the filter thread measures 72 mm. The lens features an aperture ring with click/de-click operation, an aperture ring lock, a programmable AFL button, dust- and splash-resistant construction, and a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element. It measures approximately 81 × 111.4 mm and weighs 755 g in L-Mount version, while the Sony E version is approximately 113.4 mm long and weighs 745 g. Compared with the previous generation, which weighed more than one kilogram, the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG II Art provides a configuration around 30% more compact while retaining the professional design approach of the Art series.
