Leica X-U (Typ 113) is a rugged fixed-lens compact camera designed for use in demanding environmental conditions and also for underwater shooting. The camera body is waterproof down to 15 meters for up to 60 minutes, dustproof, and shockproof from drops of approximately 1.2 meters, with a non-slip rubber exterior and a body design developed in collaboration with Audi Design. It integrates a 16.2 MP effective APS-C CMOS sensor and a Leica Summilux 23 mm f/1.7 ASPH lens, equivalent to a 35 mm lens in full-frame format, a combination suited to travel photography, reportage, landscape, street photography, and outdoor use. The fixed lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 20 cm and works with a contrast-detection autofocus system with single-point, 11-point, spot, and face detection modes. The camera supports JPEG and RAW DNG files, ISO sensitivity from 100 to 12500, continuous shooting up to 5 fps, and Full HD 1080p video recording at 30 fps. The 3-inch rear display with approximately 920,000 dots allows framing and menu control, while the integrated flash positioned at the front above the lens is designed to improve lighting for close-up and underwater shooting. Leica X-U (Typ 113) uses SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards and the Leica BP-DC8 battery.
