Nikon AF 20mm f/2.8 D

Nikon AF Nikkor 20mm f/2.8D is a compact ultra-wide-angle lens with Nikon F mount, designed for 35mm film cameras and FX-format digital cameras, while also being usable on DX bodies where it provides an angle of view equivalent to approximately 30 mm. Its 20 mm focal length and 94° angle of view on full frame make it suitable for landscape, architecture, interiors, reportage, and travel photography, while the f/2.8 maximum aperture provides good light-gathering capability while keeping size and weight relatively low. The optical construction consists of 12 elements in 9 groups and uses Nikon’s CRC, Close-Range Correction, system, developed to maintain good performance at close focusing distances; minimum focusing distance is 25 cm, with a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.12x, approximately 1:8.3. Nikon Super Integrated Coating helps reduce flare and ghosting while maintaining consistent color reproduction. The diaphragm uses 7 blades, minimum aperture is f/22, and the filter thread measures 62 mm. The “D” designation indicates that the lens can transmit focusing distance information to compatible camera bodies for exposure and flash control. Autofocus uses a screw-drive mechanism and therefore depends on an autofocus motor built into the camera body: on Nikon DSLRs without an internal AF motor and on Nikon Z mirrorless cameras used with an FTZ adapter, the lens can still be mounted but autofocus is unavailable and focusing must be performed manually. Measuring approximately 69 × 42.5 mm and weighing around 270 g, the Nikon AF 20mm f/2.8D remains a particularly compact F-mount wide-angle lens, suitable for users looking for a lightweight vintage optic with an aperture ring and broad compatibility across Nikon film and digital camera bodies.
